I recently had the chance to visit one of our local historical buildings. As I suffered my way through the over-rehearsed and scripted tour, I was caught off guard by a few of the most gorgeous antique desks. From what little I caught of the tour guide’s rambling, these antique desks were turn of the century pieces preserved and left untouched. Each of the antique desks were different, some large and grand, probably once belonging to a well-to-do politician or member of state.Others were smaller, maybe a little less ornate, but still, the amazing details and attention given to wood grains, stains etc. made me realize just exactly how much time these masters of there trade must have put into each little detail. Today, it seems as though everything comes off of an assembly line, making things more cost efficiant, but at what expense?
