Freshman Bellingham City Counman Jack Weiss is making a bid for the Absurd Quote of the Week Award by telling the Bellingham Herald, "
I knew it was going to pass. If I knew that was going to stop the project I probably wouldn’t have voted that way. It was a protest vote.” Huh??
Weiss made this remark in reference to his "no" vote on having city staff draft ordinances to condemn three properties along Sunset Drive, which would enable the city to move forward with widening the road from Woburn to McLeod.
In this flash of illogic, Councilman Weiss has told us that he voted against the motion in order to demonstrate his dislike for it, but would have voted FOR it if his "no" vote would have caused the motion to fail. So, if you're against the motion, Jack, why would you have refused to let it fail? Be careful with such mental contortions, councilman. You could hurt yourself.
