I don't know much about this, other than what hsheather posted in another forum. Apparently the judicial candidates will be debating in the Whatcom County Council Chambers, this Thursday, the 24th at 5:30 pm. Personally, I find the judicial races some of the most difficult to cast a vote for, simply because it is hard to get information on the candidates beyond the empty rhetoric. This should be an interesting debate.

Thanks for posting this here as well. The judicial debate is a great way to get information on such an important race. It is being put on by the Washington Women Lawyers, who also did the judicial ratings that you can find at www.votingforjudges.org. As you mentioned, it's very hard to get information on judicial debates as they are not covered as much as other political races. In the last judicial primary in 2004, just over 44,258 ballots were counted, only half of which cast their vote for Judge. This is a true testament that Whatcom County voters do not have enough information to know the difference between the candidates. Judges make decisions that impact our community more than any other political position. They can be the reason why your favorite restaurant is here one day and gone the next, why your neighbor has to move because they were evicted from their home, and many many more issues that effect us all. I invite everyone to join me in listening to the true difference between the candidates, and to make an informed decision.

Unfortunately, I was at another event when this debate was happening. Is there recorded audio of it? I'd be very interested in hearing it.

Gray, I'm not aware of one, however I will ask the Washington Women Lawyers. Doug has another meet and greet and opportunity to ask questions this Thursday, at 5:30 pm at the Boathouse. Food will be provided, we would welcome your questions or concerns. I will post something in the local news as well. Thanks, Heather
