Sam Taylor has given a heads-up that the Bellingham City Council will be discussing water quality protection issues on Monday. This may be a council meeting to attend, or at least catch it on BTV-10.

We have two things on tap. Both will come no sooner than 4:10 as that is the posted time. We can run late but will not start a committee meeting early. The first item is a report from staff on a proposal that I asked for in late January. I heard that the City does not have anyone on the ground in the watershed monitoring agency activity. So if Water District 7 is to hold a meeting and present a comprehensive plan, we, the City, would not know of it. I was amazed to find this to be true. We should be looking out for our interests by monitoring these agencies that have the potential to impact our water quality. The second item is approval of the work plan the staff has assembled for water protection for 2008. It's a lengthy document that Council reviewed but I didn't know we needed to "adopt" it so we'll do that work Monday.
