Word in the media is that the U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that the Top Two Primary is constitutional. This means a number of things. For starters, it means we no longer declare a party preference for Primary voting. It also opens up the possibility that one party could have two candidates going head to head in the General, much like we had with the mayoral race in 2007. Finally, it means that 3rd party candidates will now need to make solid runs in Primary races. What is particularly interesting is that this system will be in effect for the 2008 Summer Primary. This should be interesting!
