I know Wes and Diane Herman, local owners of The Woods coffee shops. You will not find finer, more decent people, and this vandalism just makes me sick.

According to Wes, vandals shattered six windows and stenciled some "disturbing" graffiti at The Woods in Boulevard Park around 2AM Saturday morning, resulting in thousands of dollars in damage to the facility.

Fortunately, video surveillance cameras have good quality images of the vandals, and there was an eye witness who offered police a partial description of a car leaving the scene.

We at Eye on Whatcom deplore this kind of vandalism and look forward to reading about these punks being busted and believe they should be made to compensate The Woods for their losses.

    I am also a friend of the Hermans as well as a fan of the Woods Coffe chain. I also built the Woods down at Boulevard Park and consider much of it my handiwork, from the big timber trusses, the board & bat siding, encircling eyebrow roof and pine interior trim work, I consider it one of my finest works. To have it Vandilized in such a way is despicable and I encourage the maximum penalty available for those involved.
