The Whatcom GOP held a substantial rally today at the farm home of Doug and Tasha Erickson. They loaded us up with BBQ beef, baked beans and potato salad. Old-timers said they've not seen anything like this ever before, in terms of sheer numbers. It was indeed quite a gathering!

I don't have an official tally, but I'm going to estimate that there were more than 450 folks there. Following the Central Committee Meeting, Lynne Rainey acted as Master of Ceremonies, calling a group of young folks to the stage to lead us all in the Pledge of Allegiance. Afterward, she kept the candidates pretty much on their toes, rushing them up to the stage and shooing them off when they needed to step down.

All in all, it was a very impressive afternoon! You'll note the fabulously blue sky, which means the Sun was smiling down on us, and laughing at my balding dome, which now glows bright red, even in the dark.

In addition to
Doug Ericksen, who is running for re-election as State Representative in the 42nd Legislative District, those candidates who addressed the crowd are listed below.
Dino Rossi Governor's Race
Allan Martin State Treasurer's Race
Rick Bart U.S. Congress, 2nd District Race
Steve Van Luven State Senate, 40th District Race
Jere Hawn State Representative, 42 District Race
